Before Arena was a product, it was the system that ran a real company.
Arena wasn't created in a boardroom or dreamed up by consultants. It was built inside a growing company that had reached a familiar problem: the business depended on the owner to keep it moving.
For years, I was the system.
THE PROBLEM
The business depended on me.
Meetings were long. Decisions were unclear. Priorities changed depending on who was in the room.
We tracked numbers, but not always the right ones. Accountability existed in theory more than in practice. When something slipped, it usually found its way back to me.
The company was growing, but growth came with a cost.
The business ran on my attention. And my attention was becoming the bottleneck.
THE TURNING POINT
The company didn't need more effort. It needed more structure.
I realized the business would only stop depending on the owner when a system took over the work the owner had been carrying.
Not the vision. Not the leadership. The operating system.
The meetings. The priorities. The accountability. The decisions. The visibility.
So we built one. Not to replace leadership, but to strengthen it.
THE RESULT
A company that runs, and grows, without everything flowing through me.
Today, I can see exactly what's happening across the business without being involved in every decision.
The right numbers are visible, priorities are clear, accountability is shared, and problems surface early.
Most importantly, the people closest to the work are the people improving it.
The team doesn't wait for the owner, the team operates. That's the real outcome Arena creates.
Not founder absence. Founder freedom.
OPERATOR. FOUNDER. BUILDER.
Meet Mark
Mark believes most entrepreneurs are cut from the same cloth. Driven, creative, independent, able to do almost anything, which is exactly the trap. The instinct that lets you do every job is the one that keeps you doing every job. What gets you started rarely scales you. That takes systems, the one thing most founders never build.
He knows this firsthand. A Red Seal chef, he started out doing every job himself, until The E-Myth changed how he saw the problem: systems, not effort, are what scale a company. He read every business book on systems and growth he could find and bet everything on what they taught. He kept his full-time job as a firefighter on purpose, to prove a company could scale beside him. It did. White Table Catering grew into a 300-person operation spanning restaurants, cafés, golf-course food and beverage, and the top full-service catering and events business in Vancouver, named Outstanding Caterer of the Year at the ACE Awards. He built it on systems, not on himself. That's the difference between owning a job and owning an asset.
The real leverage came when it all came together, the systems, the knowledge, and the vision shared by him and his whole team inside one operating system.
The first he ran was EOS. It worked, until it stopped keeping pace with what he wanted. Once he saw how much an operating system mattered, he became obsessed with building the best one he could, a system any company could run to get what he got: a business that grows without its owner holding it together.
The proof is how he lives. Mark takes multiple vacations a year with Carly and their three boys, sometimes four weeks at a stretch, while the company keeps growing and keeps winning, including being named Outstanding Caterer of the Year at the ACE Awards. A business doesn't just run without its owner. With the right people, the right vision, and the right systems, it runs with excellence. That's what Arena gives you: a company you run, instead of one that runs you.

WHY WE DO THIS
When an operator builds a great company, the impact extends far beyond the owner.
Families benefit, employees build careers, customers receive better experiences, and communities become stronger.
The ripple effects are enormous.
Arena exists because helping operators build stronger companies creates value far beyond the business itself.
Arena’s Core Values
Authenticity
Bring all of who you are to the work.
The best operators aren't pretending to be someone else. They lead with honesty, own it when they're wrong, and build trust through consistency, because businesses perform better when people show up as themselves.
Simplicity
Complexity doesn't scale, simplicity does.
Every year a business runs, it collects complexity. Arena exists to simplify, because the companies that scale best are the ones disciplined enough to keep their systems easy to understand, maintain and grow.
Belief
Believe in yourself, believe in others.
Operators need confidence in their own ability to lead, and in their people's ability to grow. The strongest companies are built by leaders who create more leaders, and give them room to rise.
Giving
Give more value than you receive.
Leave every conversation, session and partnership better than you found it. It's the foundation of our guarantee: we give more value than we charge, and if a session doesn't deliver that, we'll make it right.
Find out where your business still depends on you.
Arena was built to solve a problem we've lived ourselves.
